The new carry gun that I got last week is a Sig Sauer P938. As I mentioned in my post for February 23, it takes a bit of practice. After several trips to the range I finally figured that the gun was shooting 3-4 inches to the left. Time for sight adjustment. The rear sight is not easily adjustable because it is a dove tail. It is possible to whack at it with a punch, but I didn't like the prospect of doing that. So I set about looking for a sight adjustment tool. Sig sells one, but it is very expensive. Other makers sell them as well. I found a number of third party tools and decided on the NcSTAR universal pistol rear sight tool. From what I saw on YouTube, it seemed to be simple and reliable. It arrived at the house and I was ready to give it a whirl. The slide is inserted into the tool and a left, right and top clamp are tightened to held it in place. It sits on a stage which is vertically adjustable. The horizontal screw is what does the pushing. The tool is about four inches high. This particular gun has a composite (plastic) rear sight. It is in there very tight. I calculated that I needed to move the sight .65 millimeters to the right. It took a lot of pressure to get it to move, but finally it happened. Now all I have to do is go out to the range (tomorrow) and see if it got properly adjusted.
