January 8, 2018

This evening our friends Bill and Maria invited us and a few others over to their house to watch the National Championship game between Georgia and Alabama. Maria is an Auburn graduate so there was no doubt we would be rooting for Georgia. That my sound easy, but my three sons and two daughters in law all have at least one degree from Georgia Tech, our arch rival is therefore Georgia. Given that Maria was hosting the party it would be gauche for me to root for Alabama. I decided that my best course of action was to root for Georgia Tech. Yeah, I know they weren't playing. Ginny and I both wore some Georgia Tech shirts. Unfortunately Alabama pulled it off with a stunning touchdown in overtime. It was a great game.

The photo is of Bill and Maria's dog Abby. The dog had no interest in the game, as can plainly be seen. Ginny also managed to snooze through the 4th quarter. No joy in Mudville, but the food was great.

That's about right.
I suffered through the Cubs and
the Astros.
Go Astros. Might be another very good year.

Since I live in UGAg country I have to put up with a lot of those people. When asked who I was rooting for, I told the following story:
I was born an Astros fan. Rooted for them through every crappy season my whole life and they never won anything. But this year, they finally broke through and won the world series. It was such an awesome feeling! I was so happy, and I bought all the gear to show off! Now I walk with my head held high and super confident about my favorite team. That being said, I would NEVER want any fan of UGAg to have that same feeling.
