The point of this whole trip was to attend a wedding in Beverly, Mass. As usual we decided to make it into a real road trip. The wedding was of one of Ginny's cousins. It was very nice. The ceremony was at a place looking out over Gloucester Harbor. It was short and sweet. The reception was in a giant tent which was a good thing because it rained like hell right after the ceremony.

We spent some time earlier in the day visiting Beauport, a mansion built by Henry Davis Sleeper back a hundred years ago. He was an early interior decorator. The mansion was essentially as he left it which makes it interesting to me. I would have to say that there was a lot of stuff in there. Some of it valuable, some of it not. Certainly eclectic and interesting. Sleeper was a major fund raiser and promoter of the American Field Service, the volunteer ambulance corps in World War 1. France awarded him the Croix de Guerre and the Legion of Honor.

Today's photo is of us with my grad school room mate Chip and his wife Margaret. We had a great time staying with them and visiting Gloucester and Cape Ann. They are big supporters of the Sleeper-McCann house and many other things in the area. It was tons of fun just hanging out with them and enjoying the area.
