Last night we were talking about photographs with Ken and Debbie. I mentioned that we had 195,000 cataloged and key worded photos in our collection. They were amazed. As my friends know, I spend tons of time messing with our photos. Thanks to my good friend Dave Beedon, I got started with Lightroom a long time ago. The best thing about Lightroom is the data base management capabilities. We use that all the time. Anyway, Ken and Debbie were somewhat skeptical about all the time and effort. They were asking the proverbial "So What?"
As they were about to leave I gathered them around the computer and put on a demonstration of the power of good image management. I had assigned a key word to them long ago. We searched on the keyword and found about 25 photos of them at various times. What made the demonstration more interesting was that we remembered visiting them once upon a time and photos from that visit did not appear. Now Ginny remembered that the day after that visit we headed out to Indianapolis. Searched for that, went back one day and VOILA there were the photos. A quick look at the keywords revealed that I has misspelled their name. I got that corrected quickly then searched on the misspelling and found a bunch more which I also corrected. In the end we found 47 photographs in our archive. Today's photo is the earliest, from 1975. Ginny and I were still in graduate school and Ken and Debbie were at Cherry Point where he was flying EA-6B Prowlers for the Marines. How cool is that? Life is good!
