Day 46 - Preparing for this remodeling project has been a lot of work. We are going through stuff that we haven't looked at in many years. We find treasures and we find crap. Today we found some real treasures we had forgotten about. The two items that Ginny has in her hands are commemorative displays from space shuttle missions. On the left is STS-37 which Ken Cameron gave us and on the right is STS-40, which Sid Gutierrez gave us. Ken and Sid were dads of Robert and David who were Cub Scouts in the den with my son Robert. What is cool is that there is a little US flag on each one that went into orbit aboard the shuttle. How cool is that. Unfortunately, the space program isn't as much front and center as it used to be. We are sending astronauts to the station on Russian rockets. I call that downright embarrassing. Thank you Mr. Obama. There has been a terrible mission creep where NASA now does all sorts of things that are really not space exploration related. I am afraid that NASA now stands for Not About Space Anymore.

Now those are really special items to hang on the wall.
It would take something really good to beat them.

I thought it was a Bush who cut off the money for space. Admittedly, Obama didn't restore it, but he wasn't the culprit.
