More fun in Yellowstone today. We stopped at Old Faithful for a while and managed to watch two eruptions. It is fun to do that, but as you are sitting there you are asking yourself (at least I am), "Wouldn't it be interesting if this was the time that Old Faithful decided not to erupt?" Well, that didn't happen and the crowd was treated to a nice display of geyserness.
We also stopped at Midway Geyser Basin which includes the Grand Prismatic Pool. This is the one that appears on post cards. It always looks so grand. Those photos are airborne on a day where there is a high wind dissipating the steam that comes off the surface of the thermal pool. When you walk up to it all you see is steam and water flowing down the surface surrounding the pool. Today's photo is a bunch of tourists (like us) wondering, "Where the hell is the pool?"
