We took a cruise up Lake Powell to see the famous Rainbow Bridge. This is a bridge, not an arch, because it was carved out by flowing water. It is quite a distance from the marina, about 45 miles, so the run out there is over two hours. Along the way they provided commentary about the area. Lake Powell was formed by damming the Colorado River. The project was completed in 1962.

We docked about a mile from the arch. The trail was easy and well maintained. The arch itself is massive, almost 300 feet tall. Photography was a little tricky because you can't go to the other side and get the sun behind you. This is the north side which is never in the sunlight. I used the built in HDR processing on my 5D Mk3 and got this shot. It is a three exposure HDR image.

On the return trip we stopped at Dangling Rope Marina. This facility is fairly large and is located in a small bay. The most interesting part is that it is all on floats. Here is what it looks like. It is all supplied by barge. The mooring berths can accommodate large houseboats. Very impressive. Ginny and I treated ourselves to chocolate and raspberry swirl soft serve ice cream.

Nice work despite the difficult lighting. V
