Today was a relocation day with a stop along the way. We drove from Albuquerque to Flagstaff with a long stop at the Petrified Forest National Park. We were there 34 years ago. I don't remember much of that visit. Anyway there is a part of the park (on the north end) that is in the Painted Desert. There are lots of petrified logs to see, especially on the south end of the park. Since this is all National Park, you can't pick up any souvenirs. Of course, all petrified wood on private property is fair game. We passed a business that dealt in petrified wood. They had several jam packed acres of petrified wood in big chunks in their stockpile.
