We went out early this morning to photograph Minnehaha Falls. We went there during the holiday weekend and it was mobbed with people making "serious" photography impossible. Today was a Tuesday, it was misting and there was nobody in sight. Ginny was anxious to try some more long exposures of waterfalls. What we found was that the G15 and G16 both have a neutral density filter effect. It is worth three stops. That is enough under the conditions today to get a 0.8 second exposure which is plenty to get that silky appearance of the waterfall. Things worked out nicely. Notice that there is a heron standing on the rock. He held still for the exposure. It was hard to get him trained to do that.
Nice effect with the water. Congratulations on the training of the heron (did you use heron treats?). The hike from there down to the river is pleasant---did you do that?
