I don't know if you are aware of Google's NIK filters. They are filters for Photoshop and Lightroom that can be used for manipulating images. Up until Thursday, they were $150. That was more than I was willing to spend. Now, they are FREE. What part of free don't you understand. Well, at the camera club meeting last Tuesday, they were doing some demonstrations with Photoshop and Lightroom. Throughout the talk the presenters were raving about the NIK filters. So, I downloaded them and installed them. For the past three days I have been playing around with them and figuring out the workflow. In the beginning I was being way too heavy handed and ended up with images that were way too crispy and deep fried looking. Today I tried a different approach and ended up with this result. The first try I did back when I took the shot in 2013:

I think the new one is better. The print looks a lot better than the screen image here. I enjoy looking at prints, so ones I like I will print out 8X10 and put into a book. I go through that sometimes to find ones to fine tune for the club judging and print out 12X18.

Jeez, this photography stuff is fun. I wish I had a local mentor to help me over the rocky parts.
