This is my galactic command station for my scanning project. Even though I have scanned about 340 rolls of film, I am still learning (sometimes the hard way) the proper workflow. This includes the software (I use VueScan which works very well) and the Nikon LS9000 film scanner. I have had the scanner since May of 2007. I have had my ups and downs with it. Early on, it started misaligning frames. I thought there was some malfunction and sent it in for repairs at least two times. That gremlin seemed to disappear, only to reappear yesterday. I thought to myself, "Crap, Nikon doesn't make this thing any longer and I don't know if they are still in the repair business." As I was thinking these gloomy thoughts, I had a close look at the film carriage. The cover was ever so slightly raised up (a millimeter or so). After some examination I noted that one of the negative strips was not aligned properly. I realigned it and it worked perfectly. Loading the carrier is quite dodgy. I guess the tolerances for feeding the carriage are very small. But now I know what to look for and I am sure that problem will not arise again.
