I have always found the German people to be such warm, loving, understanding and helpful people. What prompted this comment? Well, a couple of recent incidents. The first one I initially wrote off as a grouchy person, but when the second one happened at the Artisan Inn in Trinity, I got to thinking this might be a common thread. Ginny is posing with the owner of the Artisan Inn in today's photo.

Item #1. We were flying back from Europe a couple years ago. The aircraft had leveled off and the flight attendants were busy serving dinner. At each row the flight attendant said we had our choice of beef, chicken or pasta. Pretty straightforward, I would think. When she got to the German fellow sitting across the aisle from me, she recited the choices and the gentleman said rather forcefully. "I vill haf FISH!" Fortunately, the flight attendant was not armed.

Item #2. We were having a nice breakfast last week at the Artisan Inn. Usual stuff, rolls, biscuits, fruit, eggs to order and waffles. The waitress approached the German tourists sitting behind us and asked for their orders. One of the gentlemen said rather forcefully, "I vill haf a ham sandwich!" The server explained that this item wasn't on the menu to which the gentleman replied, "I vant a ham sandwich!" I have to admit that the poor server was a little at a loss for words, but she still managed to reply that the ham sandwich was not available.

So, I chalk this up to coindcidence. Remember that Goldfinger said, "Mr Bond, they have a saying in Chicago: ‘Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, the third time it’s enemy action.' ”

I am waiting for the third shoe to drop. I will keep you posted. just sayin'
