Today we followed the Cabot Trail around the northern part of Cape Breton. It was mostlay a scenic drive along the coast and through the mountains. We stopped in Cheticamp for a while to see St. Peter's Church and to visit Les Trois Pignons, which is a museum of rug hooking (who woulda thunk they would have a museum). It was interesting. The most interesting thing to me was listening to the lady who conducted the tour. If I closed my eyes I would have imagined we were in southern Louisiana judging from her accent. This area is very much an Acadian area.
Eventually, we ended back at Baddeck and headed out to a lobster dinner. We were pleasantly surprised that it started out with buckets of steamed mussels. Seemed almost like Belgium! We had a nice lobster then headed out for another ceiligh. This time there were different musicians, but the result was the same. We had a great time and the music was really good.
