We debarked from our cruise boat the Alaskan Dream this morning right after breakfast. We have two days here in Ketchikan before we fly to Anchorage. We booked a nice excursion to the George Inlet lodge. Once there we all trooped onto a couple small boats and headed out onto waters of George Inlet. We saw some Bald Eagles and stopped to throw them some frozen herring. We eventually ended up in a small bay where the guide retrieved a crab pot and sure enough there were some Dungeness Crabs in it. She had a bunch more patter as we headed back to the lodge for the main attraction, a crab feed. It was very good. The servers put on a little crab cracking demonstration for the newbies, then the munching began in earnest. We had a very enjoyable lunch topped off with blueberry cheesecake, then back to the bus for the ride back to town.

Once back in town we visited the Tongass Historical Museum which wasn't much then we took the free shuttle out to the Totem Heritage Center which was pretty cool. We met a volunteer there who gave us a boat load of information about various totem poles which were on display. These were old, 125-150 years. They were recovered from various villages where they were in danger of rotting away. It was interesting that some of the poles could be dated by their appearance in period photographs. It was fun to look at the poles and the photos. We took the shuttle back toward the hotel then walked the rest of the way from where it ends (about a mile). Good day!
