We spent the whole day walking around Sitka and looking at stuff. One of the places we went was the Alaska Raptor Center. This place takes in injured birds and tries to rehabilitate them. If successful, they are released. If not they are kept and cared for. There were quite a few Bald Eagles housed there. We also toured the Russian Bishop's house which had been restored by the National Park Service to its 1843 looks. It was quite interesting. Historical stuff is always interesting to me. The most interesting place we went was the Sheldon Jackson Museum. This place housed a large collection of Native American artifacts that Sheldon Jackson collected in the 1870s and 1880s. I found it interesting particularly because it represented the life of the native people before becoming westernized. It was an unusual day in Sitka because it was sunny and the temperatures were in the 70s. The natives were surprised, but pleasantly so.
