We are home for a couple days before heading out for about six weeks in Alaska. Naturally, it is a busy time. Ginny has done her usual job of outstanding trip planning. The itinerary spreadsheet and three ring binder of reservations and vouchers are ready to go. One of my jobs is cameras and electronics. We are taking four cameras with us: two G15s, T5i and 5D Mk2. We are also taking a netbook computer and our iPad. One thing I like to do is synchronize the clocks on all the cameras. That helps a whole lot when we go through our photos. This time around I am leaving quite a bit of gadget equipment home. No big flash units this time around. We never use them. The T5i has a built in flash and I carry a small Canon 270 EX II speedlight because the 5D has no pop up flash. Because we are still in the US there are no voltage and plug adapters needed. I am also trimming back the amount of clothing I take. Having done this quite a bit, it has become evident that certain things are along for the ride and therefore can stay behind. I can't wait to head out. This is going to be fun!

One of the things I am most looking forward to is a trip to Prudhoe Bay. Way above the arctic circle. 24 hours of daylight. I am truly lucky, as long as Ginny is willing to keep me.

Fun is a bit mild, it is going to be a lot more than fun.

Reminds me of a film I once saw, "Oh Lucky Man".

We are really looking forward to it. We went there on our honeymoon 40 years ago. This time we can spend a lot more time.
