April 15, 2014

Microsoft2P.jpg

Occasionally I get pissed off. Today is one of those days. With all the Windows XP hoopla running around something like this comes along. On Tax Deadline day, no less. As you probably know, we sidelined Ginny's XP machine and bought a brand new one that is super spiffy. Ginny is happy (thank God!). We did that because of the XP end of support. They said after April 8 you are screwed. So I read today the the IRS paid Microsoft half a million dollars to continue support for their machines for a limited time. Think about this. Where did those bastards get the money? They got it from the citizens of the United States (at least those of us who still pay taxes). The question to Microsoft is: why don't you make that support available to all the citizens of the United States? The IRS should insist on it. If Microsoft doesn't do it, let the IRS hammer them with audits until they do. The world seems to be spinning out of control. I don't really care as long as there is beer in the fridge and I can hang out with Ginny.

Good point. Microsoft can indeed do what it wants to do. No problem with that.

Can't agree with you John. As a business, Microsoft is entitled to make the decision to obsolete a product just like the car companies or any other company can. Its 'Capitalism', the American way. But you could ask why the IRS hasn't upgraded its systems before this day came around. And warm beer is junk food.

I think Microsoft was fanning the fire.

The panic about the end of support for Windows XP reminds me of the panic about the Year 2000 "bug."

No offense to my English friends, but when it gets to warm beer, I will switch to whisky. Of course, a pulled pint in an English pub is a treat. That is entirely different from a warm Budweiser.

It is not as bad as you think John,,,its a lot worse.
I always wondered how something as big as the Roman Empire managed to disappear from the planet, now I know, and their ancestors are running the world now.
Just get used to warm beer for when the electricity stops flowing.
