Sometimes something comes at you out of the blue. It happened to me today. We went to the Harry Ransom center at the University of Texas. The folks manning the desk gave us a short introduction to the exhibits. There was a traveling exhibit about World War 1 which turned out to be interesting. There was a Gutenberg Bible (pretty cool) and there was the first photograph ever taken (holy sh&t, that's way cool). Sure enough, there in a display case was the famous photo taken by Joseph Nicephore Niepce in about 1826. Read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/View_from_the_Window_at_Le_Gras It was very hard to find an angle where you could see the image, but when you did, it was definitely there. How cool can it get? This is one of those bucket list items I didn't even have on the list, although it should have been there. Dang, it's good when stuff like this happens. Lucky me. Life is good. |
