I seldom ever use the macro features on my cameras. I got to thinking about that today and decided to go out and take some photos to experiment a little. My weapon of choice was the G15. The experiment in mind was try the macro then back up and use the telephoto and see what happens. There were some azaleas blooming and I figured they would make good subjects. BTW - we have a bunch of different colors, but the purple ones are my favorite. So I picked out a properly lighted bloom and started shooting. This certainly was not a scientific investigation, but I did conclude that filling the frame in macro mode was better than telephoto filling the frame in terms of sharpness. Some day, if I feel like it, I will do a more controlled experiment, but what I learned today was helpful.
