We started out the day in Deadwood, South Dakota. We saw Wild Bill Hickok's and Calamity Jane's graves. We also saw a house that was built in 1892 and is essentially preserved as it was then. I find that kind of stuff interesting. The best part of the day was a visit to Devil's Tower in Wyoming. This is a structure of volcanic origin that rises about 800 feet above the terrain. We hiked around it and enjoyed some very pleasant weather. The sun and clouds cooperated and we got some nice pictures. We ended up in Sheridan, Wyoming, where we got screwed by the hotel we had booked. That's a whole other story which is not going to find its way into today's posting. |
