We spent the day in Nashville and had a great time. In the morning we went to the Hermitage, Andrew Jackson's home. It was an interesting tour because we learned many details of his life that are not part of the US History curriculum. Normally we think of him as the victor in the Battle of New Orleans (in a song made famous by Johnny Horton) and as the seventh president of the United States. In the afternoon we toured the State Capitol. It isn't very big or ornate, but it was interesting. Once through security you can roam anywhere in the place yo want to go. The real highlight of the day was a visit to the Tennessee State Museum. There was one large display of Indian artifacts that Ginny and I found amazing. They had a bunch of pots that looked like the pots we saw in Peru. Normally the US Indian stuff you see seems to be utilitarian items, but these were clearly more than that and very well made. I would like to go back to that one again and look at the Indian artifacts some more.
