We started out on our two week road trip this morning. Somehow as if by magic we pulled out a few minutes before we planned. The itinerary includes Natchez, the Natchez Trace, Jackson, Tupelo, Shiloh, Nashville and Alpharetta. The highlight of the trip is Peyton's first birthday. So this morning we headed to Natchez for three nights. It was only about 315 miles, so it was an easy drive. We visited Longwood, pictured here. This house was never completed. Construction stopped when the Civil War started. Then only part finished was the basement. The family moved in and lived in the basement as long as they owned the building. The upper stories are left as they were in 1861. Living in the basement wasn't so bad. 10,000 square feet of well furnished accommodations there. We have two more whole days in Natchez and are planning to see lots of cool stuff.
