Landing gear retraction and emergency extension tests are important for the Swift, the only retractable gear airplane in the hangar. The jack points are aft of the center of gravity so when you jack up the airplane the nose wants to drop. Obvious answer is weight in the tail. At one time I used bags of lead shot laying on the horizontal stabilizer to do that. Some people have metal fittings in the floor to tie it down. This is what I do. Some metal rings on a board, rope and lead bars do the trick quite well. Swinging the gear went just fine, thankfully no hydraulic leaks to deal with. Also the fix I put in last year to keep the trunion bolts tight seems to have worked. That is a relief!

Hope you lock those lead bars away, have you checked the price of scrap lead lately.
