I have always been interested in transcribing the VHS tapes I took of the family onto some digital media. I figured there was no time like the present so I went up to Frys and got a little adapter to hook my VCR into my computer. Well, easier said than done, my friend. I screwed around with this rig for hours and hours before I got lucky and found a combination of settings that would work. So, I am now going back into the tapes that have been on the shelf for years and transcribing them. This is going to take a while. It will be fun, however.

John, I use a little adaptor called a Cyberlink DVD Maker bought from TigerDirect. Easy to set, easy to use, you can copy either from VHS or from your PVR. Software for both copying and editing is included. Price I think was under $100.
