We spent the day walking around Key West. It was a beautiful day. Three cruise ships were in port, so there were thousands of people on the street buying a T-shirt and a margarita. This is a place that my friends Bloke and Rodney said I should look up. Both of them are "retired" Pan Am pilots. Anyway, this was the birthplace of Pan Am. A great airline, a trailblazing adventure. Unfortunately, the building is currently Kelly's Caribbean Bar Grill and Brewery. It was once owned by Kelly McGillis, of Top Gun fame. I looked her up on Wikipedia and found that she has no interest in aviation and is appparently more interested in coming out as a lesbian, which seems to be an important Hollywood thing to do. If I had the dough, which I don't, I would get control of that building and make it into a Pan Am oriented establishment. My limited exposure to airline pilots suggests that they like to drink a lot. I would invite every pilot in the universe to come to the bar and bask in the history of a great airline. I would also sell them a lot of beer.
