Today was the transit of Venus. Ginny and I figured that we would not have a chance to observe it, this being Oregon. But the day turned out to be relatively sunny. We went over to the Peter Iredale and hacked around. There was this fellow camped out in the parking lot photographing and observing the event. He loaned us a welder's filter and we had a good look when Venus was about half way through its transit. I took this shot as the clouds were covering the sun, hoping that I might get lucky. I had no filters at my disposal. Sure enough, you can see Venus in mid transit on the sun. Jeez, I like it when I get lucky!!
