We are off again on a Magical History Tour. This time it is in the Chattanooga area. We visited Chickamauga National Battlefield today. It was very interesting. The battle here was the last Confederate victory before Sherman started his famous march to the sea. Shortly after the Confederate victory, Grant arrived in Chattanooga to take command, and it was a only matter of time before the tide was turned and Sherman started the battle of atrition which eventually led to defeat for the Confederate States. After three more days here we head down the pike to Alpharetta to see the new grandson. Life is good.

The CSA got beat at Gettysburg which was a couple months before. Chicamauga was the last great Confederate victory.

I think it might be described as the first major Confederate loss, although I'm not sure of the date of Gettysburg.

Head about 70 miles east from Chattanooga or 60 miles north from Alpharetta, Linda and I will be glad to show you the mountains from a different view that weekender's never see. No minivan's but we can go in the jeeps and trucks. We live less than 20 miles from the AT and less than 5 miles Benton MacKaye Trail. The Blue Ridge area is a fun for hiking and photography.
