Today we boarded the Ghan Train in Alice Springs for the overnight run to Adelaide. The Ghan was so named because the railroad replaced the Afghan camel route that was in use to move goods north and south through South Australia and the Northern Territory. This turned out to be a real hoot. We had first class accomodations. A nice (cozy) sleeping cabin with a rather "quaint" bathroom and shower. Also two bunks. A dining car and a club car for our group's use. It was right out of the movies. I half expected to pass Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall in the passageway. The food was great. The view was great. One of the major highlites of the trip.
