One of the "bad" assignments at Fort Clatsop is manning the Dismal Nitch. This was a place the Lewis and Clark expedition spent five miserable days in early November of 1805. Now it is a Washington State roadside rest area where we have some story boards about the L&C experience. I spent the day with my friend Larry. We actually had a pretty good time talking about all sorts of stuff. I guess we had about 10-12 visitor contacts. Luckily, I only had to do this once this year.
