We had a great time in the Olympic National Park. The weather was perfect and we got a ton of hiking done. So we were on our way back to Hammond when all of a sudden the motorhome started vibrating. We pulled over and had a look for the cause of the trouble. It was the left inside rear tire which decided to have a heart attack. It was a serious structural failure which, thank heaven, didn't result in a blown tire. That would have been a mess. So we called AAA and took advantage of our RV membership. This all happened about a mile south of Raymond, Washington, just 50 miles from home.

As has always happened in the past, the AAA guys got a repairman dispatched right away. Because he had to travel quite a distance, it would be an hour before he arrived. So what to do for an hour? Well, it was near supper time so we fired up a dinner of grilled cheese sandwiches and lettuce salad and relaxed. I started up the water heater and washed all the dishes. One of the nice things about traveling in a motor home is that you have all the conveniences of home. That's why its called a motorHOME! Just a few minutes later Bryan arrived in his big truck and got to work. This young fellow was all business. He knew his stuff and in fifteen minutes the spare was mounted and we were on our way. I had never seen a tire change on a dual rear axle truck chassis before. It became obvious that I would never be able to do it alone. This roadside assistance is great.

What really pisses me off is that the tire that failed was a Michelin. They have a premium price and are highly regarded as a premium tire. I wish they had a little better performance.

Looks like I am going to have to do some replacing. Unfortunately, the rear is a dual axle and I will need to get 4 of them. Not Michelins, of course.

I have just had to replace two Michelins on the rear of my motorhome.
They were about half way through the expected lifespan of them.
They had gone out of shape, quite deformed.
I never buy a new Michelin tyre, they are very expensive, much over rated, you never know whats going to happen to them.
