I enjoy history. I can't say that I am a student of history because I can't remember stuff, like Scotish and English history. In a nutshell, these guys never really hit it off too well. Unlike the US where history goes back to about 1620, history in Britain goes way back before Christ. It is well known that the Romans were on the island for hundreds of years. This photo is really cool because it is a stone that the original builders had taken from the ruins of a Roman fort and carved into a lintel for a door in the Warden's quarters. It is dated to about 213 AD. Pretty danged cool in my opinion. But then again, I am easily amused.

Good shot, plenty of detail.

It is a dedication to Jupiter, Juno and some other gods from a soldier of the Danube frontier (modern Bulgaria) in about 213 AD. At least that is what the sign said.

It is in great shape, John. Nice pic. Can you translate it for us?
