I went over to Bay Area Park today to shoot some pictures. There was a baseball game going on so I decided to watch and take photos for a while. Baseball is by far my favorite sport. I love watching it and I love going to Minutemaid Park and watching an Astros game, even though they suck this year (actually, most years). Baseball beats heck out of football, basketball and The Biggest Loser (which has reached sports status in my son Robert's view). Baseball is America's sport. It is not full of overpaid fat cat athletes (for the most part) like the others. Most baseball players for whom English is their native tongue can actually string together nouns and verbs into a coherent sentence. That is a good thing. There are also "role Model" players every once in a while. I think particularly about Craig Biggio. Class act and great player now retired. Now I think about our great President. I guess he is a White Sox fan. Some idiot interviewer asked him about the Sox on his Sunday round of news programs. That in itself strikes me as idiotic. I thought he was the President, not some community organizer from the south side of Chicago. Anyway, you know he has something wrong with him because he is not a Cubs fan. Real Chicagoans (like yours truly) are Cubs fans. At least I was, now I like the Astros. Who can forget Ernie Banks and Jack Brickhouse? Brickhouse was famous for his "..it's going...going....going....and it drops into center field" comment every time a Cub got some wood on the ball. Always hoping for the home run. So what's the point of all this. Simple. When you get tired of all this politics crap, just grab a beer, sit down on the couch and remember all the great times you had watching and playing baseball. That works wonders on your psyche.
BTW - the blue guys kicked the crap out of the red guys.
