1.jpg Ad. Male Common Redpoll
2. 2.jpg Interesting bird. Not seen a Common Redpoll with these tones, though some might say it could be a dark, brown toned bird, though must admit I have no experience of such a bird in the thousands I have looked at. This bird looks large, dark brown toned and it's appearance suggests Greenland Redpoll, race Rostrata to me. Might be an idea to get this image onto Svalan for further comments...
3. 2..jpg Common Redpoll
4. 3.jpg For me suggests an Arctic Redpoll despite a little suffuse buff on the outer greater covert wingbar and brownish tones on upperparts. Note especially the bright buff tones about the throat and reduce, almost spotted flank streaking. Perhaps this bird best left as Common/Arctic?
5. 4.jpg Arctic Redpoll, a clasiic bird. Note the cold toned mantle, bright buff tones on throat and surround, white wingbat and reduced flank streaking. Same bird in 4a.jpg.
6. Bird in following three shots is another classic Arctic Redpoll, perhaps either an immature male of adult female. Note here the tiny bill in line with a female. Also the very reduced streaking on the flanks and beautifull bright buff tones on throat and surround..
Hope this helps Jon, are these your dads shots from Dalarna?
