I recently attended a service in St Mary's in Plantersville. What a magnificent restoration. And I looked up pictures here to share with others. I do admire the job you've done gathering pictures of these wonderful churches. However I was surprised to see no picture of Church of the Visitation in Westphalia, TX. According the historical plague in front it is the largest wooden cathelic church in the States. I thought it was lovely but nearly as much as St. Mary's. I do hope you visit the church in Westphalia. The trip would certainly be worth your time.

Beautiful gallery! I share your passion for photographing these beautiful churches. You need to add the white church in Cheapside, near Cuero, to your collection. During the wildflower season, the pasture in front of the church was solid red. Also, there is a tiny church called "Chapel of the Dunes" in Port Aransas - hard to find, but worth the search. You can see it online. I love that little church in Lake City - we will be there next week. And where is the church in New Braunfels? I live just down the road from N.B.?

Well, John, I found a reason for you to come to Manvel, Texas...we have a sweet little white church that is much like your #1 and was used as a setting for a Movie once with Goldie Hawn. After getting acquainted with you I had to laugh when I saw this collection as I am ALWAYS stopping for pictures of white churches EVERYWHERE I go, so much so that my family has made it a joke..."plan your route to avoid white churches or you will never reach the destination with Grammy stopping for pictures." I love your work very, very much! It is a true labor of love. I wanted to mention something about the photo of the white church you have listed as "Plum" That church is the last part of a community near Plum call Prarie Valley (St Peter's ELCA Lutheran Church of Prarie Valley). The church still thrives.

also have you seen... i shot a church coming out of the fog... and then discovered it is the most famous photographed church in vermont... usually i guess in the foliage... all the shots can be see

Wow... John you have calendar material here. You don't say where they are from, but if you have anything from the UK we'd love to see it on our British sites. Your composition and saturation is impeccable. As my old photography teacher used to say, the most important thing about colour photography is the whites... the whites have gotta be white he'd say... and you have done a "FFFFFF" fantastic job.

Magnificent idea and bunch of great shots. Blue and white is very striking color combination.
Inside shots is very well exposed to create such and light atmosphere.
