Bonham State Park

To many, Bonham State Park is a well kept secret. Not too far from the Dallas/Ft.Worth Metroplex, this is a beautiful park with campsites, near the waters edge, where one can sit in their lawn chair watch as the Mr. Golden Sun sets over the lake.

Built in the mid 1930’s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the 261-acre park includes and 65-acre lake, formed by a dam constructed by the CCC. In the park you’ll find a designated swimming area with a platform just off shore;a boat dock with launching ramp, a lighted fishing pier, and a 11-mile trail for hiking and mountain biking. You’ll also find full hook-up campsites, several picnic areas, a group camp with barracks and dinning hall, and restrooms with showers.

To reach the Bohham State Park, go 1.5 miles southeast of Bonham on State Highway 78 to FM 271, then two miles southeast on FM 271; enter on Park Road 24.
