Seeing galaxies like NGC-6207 in the eyepiece of my 13" telescope is like finding a smudge on a beautiful painting. M13 is brilliant while the galaxy NGC-6207 is barely detectable. But I know that the photons from the nearly undetectable smudge traveled 46 million years uninterrupted and ended in the retina of my eye. 46 Million years ago India was an island, primates had not yet evolved, grasslands and grazing mammals had not yet evolved and I have direct contact with ancient history.
