My vacations aren't centered around entertainment so much as they are to learning about things that grabbed my attention when I read about them in a book, or online. From the time when I was a youngster, there were places I read about where I always wanted to see for myself. Recently, I have been taking time away from shooting with models, and focusing on things that I have always wanted to see while I can.

This time, I knew I was in for a lot of walking,...so I traveled lightly. I didn't bring along any of my super-telephoto lenses, which are very conspicuous, and not really needed for the things I intended to photograph. However, I brought along my brand new 21 megapixel Canon 5D MkII camera bodies, plus my shorter telephoto prime lenses and wide angles for viewing big things up close.. I did manage to accomplish much of my objectives, aside from the stock photos, I did get to see things that I had only read about, and focused on specific details that I have been interested in for many years. In addition, I get as chance to become more familiar with new equipment, like in this case, my new Canon 5DMkII digital camera bodies, which I took all these pictures with. I have to say that by judging from the RAW images, that the 5DMkII offers the best image quality I have ever seen.
