Expedition to Boekenhouthoek

Boekenhouthoek is a village about an hour's drive north of Pretoria. It is a peaceful rural settlement nestled between some low hills and traversed by some streams and a river, the Moses. As the area lies on a geological fault line, some of the hills hold large deposits of beautiful crystals -- citrine, amethyst, and clear quartz crystals. We went on a trip to Boekenhouthoek on 9 October with some geologists to look for stones (my mom) or to take a walk through the village and shoot some pictures (my dad and me).
