Friday the 23rd of February 2007

A motorcyclist manages to negotiate the 100,000 road signs and cameras in Roehampton Lane without getting caught and fined for some trivial offence.
Some sunny spells, now cloudy, 12c, 10 mph S wind, 999mb, 70% rh.
A good day.

other sizes: small medium large

Well said Sunny Bob.I almost bought one once,a 1200cc,but it was too heavy and boy, could it vibrate.Curiously, still the top selling Harley variant,as bought by women,in the UK.

A fully dressed harley road king ultra will cost over £14,000. thats just short of $27,000 US. OTD.

Then the dealer will sell you the "accessories" like good brakes, better lights, screaming eagle kit to make it keep up. Its easy to spend $35,000 US out of the dealers.

Thats why the name has become synonymous with "image" here. Which has very little to do with "biker".
Of course, if I could afford one, you could disregard that last statement.

Larry, all motorbikes are good.
However, new Harley Davidsons, in England, have a reputation for being,
Vastly overpriced, unreliable, poor quality (made in China), badly designed, slow top speed compared to engine size, poor handling, bad vibrations.
Without the once good name of Harley Davidson keeping them going, sales would drop to Zero.

I take it the Cooper Brothers do not like Harley's?
John Cooper25-Feb-2007 11:01
Never mind the quality, Listen to the name. Harley Davidson.
Does that not make up for a piece of junk made in China, and assembled in America.
Ian Dalgliesh25-Feb-2007 05:23
John,As something shiny to park outside a Pub,for others to drool over,it's unsurpassed,but a headline from Motorcycle News,for a new Harley variant said"Float like a battleship,sting like a bus!"
sunny bob 24-Feb-2007 20:00
its the vibration that stops harley riders from going fast, its a bugger holding on when your hands have gone numb. Notice the front fender lamp has blown ANOTHER bulb? VULCAN's rule ok?
John Cooper24-Feb-2007 10:10
Ian, correct me if I am wrong, but I get a slight feeling that you are not very impressed with the Harley Davidson motor cycle.
Ian Dalgliesh24-Feb-2007 10:05
He'll never get caught for speeding, even in Roehampton Lane, not on a Harley.Notice the strange anomaly on the wall behind him and to the rhs of the picture. That's movement of the wall due to tree growth, nicely captured in this image. That's how slow Harley's are.

Julian, I have a Blue (Get out of Jail Free) (no Congestion charge) (no parking fees) badge, but I campaign a lot for people less fortunate.
John Cooper23-Feb-2007 18:44
Yes Dave, well spotted. It is Roehampton Lane again. Your "Eagle Eyes" are still working well. Queen Marys hospital is in Roehampton Lane. I spend a lot of time there.
Dave Beedon23-Feb-2007 18:30
Lucky mna! Is this the same place as that of the "pointed" photo of the woman with the dog?
Julian Plant23-Feb-2007 16:49
....please can nobody mention congestion charge zones as JVC will explode?
