Boats dont break down.The best way to move it is to row it.
Then they are getting practise for the next race.

A dinghy uses oars. a racing boat uses blades. but both (either) are used for rowing, so thats English 1, American 0.

In American English (the best kind), the word "oarlock" refers to the device that holds an oar in place. We live in two countries separated by a common language.

Dave, not sure if you are a rowing literate person so I will explain.
They are called rowlocks, and that is pronounced rollocks.
Which is of course a great source of hilarity to anybody with a low sense of humour.
