Box Hill, Surrey

Box Hill is 634 feet high. There is a narrow road called the zig zag on the face of the hill.
The Stepping Stones are at the base of the hill, crossing the River Mole. The river runs along the base of the hill. Then turns off into the Surrey countryside at Burford Bridge.
Box Hill is 18 miles from Putney by road.

What wonderful pictures.I now live in East Sussex but was born in Surrey & have many childhood memories of Box Hill especially the open air swimming pool,which I believe is no longer. I will make it my quest to retun this summer after nearly forty years!

Thanks for your reply - that address is for my blog which is sometimes tricky to get to, as I have chosen the quirky spelling of poems as pomes, so my blog is pomesonpoets.blogspot.com
I moved away from Leatherhead around 1970, and even though I have been back to Box Hill, I have never made it back to the Stepping Stones. So I'm not sure when the new ones were laid.
I have found some more photos by "John Cooper" of Somerset. Is this the same John Cooper?

I really liked these photographs of Box Hill and The Mole, having grown up in the Leatherhead area. I particularly appreciate the one of you walking through the water where the old stepping stones used to be. I was writing a poem about the old stepping stones.
At first I thought I was dreaming when I saw your photographs of the new ones. Obviously it is time for me to back for a visit.
Great photographs much appreciated.
