Lower Spearfish Creek

Welcome to my Lower Spearfish Creek Gallery. We were fishing Spearfish Creek in the Black Hills over Memorial Day 2007. Jaime was our guide from Dakota Angler, a great shop in Rapid City. The flies we were using were WD-40’s, Glass bead Midge Pupa, Copper John’s, RS-2’s, and Parachute Blue-Wing Olives. We caught most of our fish on San Juan worms because of the high water. The sizes on those flies aforementioned were 16 for the copper John’s and 18-22 for everything else. We used 6x tippet as well. The a range of trout included Rainbows, Browns and Brookies. Size ranged from 10" - 20" and I landed on brown in excess of 20" Jaime is an execellent guide and I would recommend him for your Black Hills fishing adventure.
