Thayer's Gull/Herring Gull comparison

Lake Hefner, Oklahoma City

Among features to note on the Thayer's Gull (in front) are the distinct brown caste in eye, the purply-red eyelids, duller tones to base of bill (compared to those of the Herring Gull). Also characteristic of Thayer's are the rosy tones to the legs, and the larger white spots on primary tips.
