Hey Jody ! I watch the "Weekly wildlife thread" every week, and every time I arrive to your post, I know that pictures are from you, before seeing your name... You have such a very "defined" style. I'm very impress with what your doing with BIF. You are starting to become the "world reference" for Birds in flight ! :)
Vera 11-May-2007 12:46

Please tell me you shoot thousands and thousands of images, and that your "keepers" are the usual ten percent, so I don't throw my gear into the ocean and follow it :)

Your flight shots are truly stunning

Jody I came across your photos after picking up some comment (and seeing your amazing Owl Photos) in Dpreview Forum. I'm an amateur from Australia and enjoy bird photography more than anything else. We have some beautiful birds here and the challenges in getting good shots makes it addictive. I can relate to your “trembling” when you got those Owl photos but all your work is amazing. At the Moment I’m using a 400D (previously a 300D) and I think the same lens as you (canon 100-400mm l is usm lens?). I’d love to show some of our birds, many similar and many different, but all a joy to watch.
Youre a real artist!

Hi Jody
I saw your posting on Fred Miranda and the fact that you use the canon 100-400mm l is usm lens. I am in the market for a lens and i'm wondering how you like it. Your pictures are really great . If this is the lens you use i may buy it.

Hi Jody:

Susan and I met you yesterday morning on Wylie Road. Remember? You've got some great pictures. I hope you'll show some from yesterday. We were up bright and early this morning again. Did see the loggerhead shrike and got lucky and saw a virginia rail and chick right on the road. It would have been a great picture. We saw the osprey yesterday on his nest at canal lake.

Jody-

What lovely work...!!! I'm here through dpReview retouching forum. Couple of copyrighting tips: Correct format for it to be "legal" -- copyright [or "circle c"] 2005 Jody Melanson. ***Expressed*** written permission is what you grant.
Jody Melanson 25-Mar-2005 02:21
Thanks! I'm using a Canon 300D Rebel and most of the wildlife is shot with a 100-400mm 4.5-5.6L IS USM lens.
