Turkey is a bi-continental nation that is placed largely in Southwest Asia and with small segment of its territory positioned in south-eastern Europe.
Because of its position both in Europe and Asia and surrounded by three seas, it has been an historical junction and homeland of grand empires.
Trukey borders with Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq and Syria.
Turkey has a very varied culture owed to its many ethnic minorities. Turkey’s culture is derived from diverse elements of the Ottoman Empire, European, and Islamic traditions. The state was reorganized mainly by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, as he changed a religion-driven previous Ottoman Empire into a fresh nation-state with a tough division of state and religious convictions.
