RockFish Boxes & Rock Purses Gallery

These are all made with Polymer Clay... lovely stuff... using a technique which, I believe, originated with Kathleen Dustin. You cover a rock with clay, detail it, bake it & then take the rock out... leaving a nice little cavity inside to put *things* in! The fish are freestanding... the others are strung to be worn as amulet bags. Click on the thumbnails to view a larger image!

FishBox4 - different view	FishBox5 - This little guy has glow in the dark face, fins & spots.. he has a night life!	I laughingly refer to this photo as "FishGuts"... it shows the boxes opened up	Earth Bags - translucent clay with herbs as inclusions... leaves were impressed for texture.
Leafy Bower	Mokume Gane w/spirals	This one had a nice deep cavity. I carried it as a change purse... till my sister stole it. Drat.	These use Donna Katos Technique using transparent canes... the one on the right lives with Katherine Dewey now!

Have admired your work for a long time, (I took a picture of one of your rock purses to work to show just how amazing it it, several years ago!)Thanks for allowing us to come into your studio, (how DO you keep it so organized?!!) Your site is great!

i love the colors in your tropical fish - they really look like FISH colors - so often i see pretty colors, but not often combos that actually look like fish. and i'm impressed with the way the opening doesn't show on your rock or fish purses - i really have to look see them. thanks for sharing your work. makes me want to try rock purses. anne winterton san diego
