Myrtle Beach Pavilion's Farewell Season

To some, the closing of the Myrtle beach Pavilion is no big deal. To the rest of us who grew up with yearly trips to Myrtle Beach, the Pavilion's closing was a sad occasion. There won't be any of those memories available for our kids, the way they were available for us. The powers that be decided it would be a grand idea to demolish the amusement park, the arcade, and the building that housed The Attic, as well as the boardwalks directly across the street. They obviously didn't think these historical landmarks were worth preserving. Instead, they plan on making a few dollars and erecting yet ANOTHER shopping center/condominium complex on the property. You know, because Myrtle Beach doesn't have enough crappy shopping complexes. The Pavilion's final season ended in September 2006. My husband and I drove down and I was able to shoot the park one last time.
