June 2001: Vigil in Solidarity with Women in Black - Philadelphia

More than 130 people attended a Vigil in Solidarity with Women in Black outside the Israeli consulate in Philadelphia on June 8, 2001. Members of local Jewish congregations and area antiwar groups came together to call for an end to the Israeli military occupation of the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem. This action was organized by the Jewish Mobilization for a Just Peace/Jews Uniting for Social Justice & cosponsored by the American Friends Service Committee. JMJP's vigil was one of 140 similar actions in at least 25 countries, including 45 cities around the United States. Another Philadelphia vigil, at the Liberty Bell, was attended by 23 people.
