Filipinos together with their families and some friends celebrated Philippine Independence Day last 9 June 2007. There is about a dozen of Filipinos living and working here in the capital city of Zimbabwe. Since June 12 (the actual date allocated for the commemoration) was a working day, the celebration was done in advance. I later came to know that in the Philippines, the celebration was also done a day in advance (11th of June instead of the 12th).
Lake Chivero was the venue for the celebration. The lake is a 25-30 minutes drive away from the city proper. Everyone had a really great time (some were not able to make it though). There was parlor games, madjong and cards, fishing, karaoke till the break of dawn and good food. The kids went for a stroll in the bird sanctuary and enjoyed a pony ride. We were able to rent a speedboat and some went for a tour of the lake.
To the Filipinos/Filipinas in Harare maraming, maraming salamat sa inyo. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Mabuhay ang Pinoy!

Hello Jasper, ka-bertdey. Wow, you take FANTASTIC pictures! Or is it your high-tech camera? Haha! I'm sure Joe has told you that he and I have recently caught up with each other again. I'm glad you're globe-trotting! What a lucky guy! So, tell me, why aren't you married yet? (Hey, you should take more photographs of yourself and post them on this site. I had a hard time looking for your photo; I wanted to see what you look like these days! Hey, take care, JASPELLLL!!! Big hug! (I still remember you whenever my birthday comes around, you know; along with Sharon Cuneta, Nida Blanca, Melchora Aquino. ODIVA!)
