"The Sound of Silence"

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence...

Gorgeous. Question: did you think of the song while composing the photo, after viewing the photo, or was the song the inspiration for the photo?
René Gysi06-Apr-2005 18:04

Simon & Garfunkel fan eh?

Striking image!

The desaturated colors are very nice here. And the shallow depth of field makes it seem like it recedes miles into the distance. It's a very attractive image.

great composition.
Guest 06-Apr-2005 05:15
Candle shots can be soooo overdone and boring, but your creative composition, (positions and choice of DOF) make this very eye-catching. It's one thing to take a properly and evenly exposed picture of a candle (I've never done that) but to do it like it's the first time, it's amazing! Awesome picture, coupled with fantastic lyrics!! Thanks!

Very beautiful poem and I like the reflection of the candlelight on this shiny surface. I like the composition of those candles and how you captured them. Both versions work very well.
